We will ensure that all legal responsibilities regarding the disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) are satisfied, and in particular all requirements of The Environment Act's 'Duty of Care' regulations are met, the following processes will be applied:
  • Depollution
  • Shredding
  • Separation
  • Reprocessing
Depollution: Prior to processing the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), hazardous materials/components are removed from the equipment and separately treated in accordance with Annex II of the WEEE Directive and in line with best practice guidance provided via BATRRT.

Shredding: A powerful four shaft rotary shredder, large enough to process almost any form of whole IT equipment, reduces assembled structures down to 40mm or 25mm fragments, and in the process, liberates metals, metal bearing materials and plastics. This high-capacity system is capable of processing up to 80 Tonnes of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) per day.

Separation: After shredding, the mixed fragments move through an automated separation process, passing through powerful overband and drum magnets which extract and collect ferrous metal fragments. The residual fragments then pass through an eddy current separator, splitting the plastic and non-ferrous materials into two further, well-defined streams.

Reprocessing: The resulting separated recyclate streams from the process are then passed directly to specialised reprocessors who will reconstitute the recyclate into re-usable raw material commodities in a closed loop recovery, a zero landfill process!
